The Boomtown Run was created in 2003 as part of Joplin’s annual Boomtown Days Festival. In 2009, the event was changed to include a half-marathon along with a traditional 5k. Both courses are USATF-certified. Starting from downtown Joplin, half-marathoners will run on city streets, where you will pass through the city’s medical district, several of Joplin’s established neighborhoods, city parks, golf courses, the city’s new sports complex and Joplin’s historic Murphysburg area. All runners will be treated to a full spread of goodies at the finish line. Don’t forget the Academy Sports + Outdoors Boomtown Kids’ Half Marathon.
